Looking forward to learning from you, Leah!
The Mathematics Teaching Practices are a north star for a teacher's journey toward excellence.
All the books in the series are fabulous!
There is also a K-5 version! I'm excited
I need the K-5 Version
They really mean it when they say "taking action"-- the book gives practical ways to do so!
I love the K-5 book. So glad to hear about this one!
So.... I see it as... (n-1)(n+1) + 2... Am I close? number of rows * number in a row plus 2 that are off the ends. Hmmm.... Love this
disequilibrium is so important, forces them to make connections to prior knowledge.
I looked at the structure of the growing pattern. Hmmm....
I love it! Boom-- and walk away!
right that is so hard to do!
yes that is it! Kelly
Revising...number of column * number in a column plus 2 that are off the ends. I see it up and down in columns
"Tell me what he's doing"... Love that question
That's my girl
She's thinking like me
I saw the top row of n, the bottom row of n and a (n-1) x (n-1) square.
Love that idea to use a different color to reason it out
would also help to explain
Me, too. Love the different color to visualize the math.
I would need that for myself
I loved the moment where the student said "He's leaving us!"
I loved that, too Cindy!
It communicates a trust in their ability to think without him.
That classroom could have been kdg to 12th grade. I've seen kdg use unifex cubes to do the same thing. They aren't use algebraic equations, but they are exploring repeated patterns.
Conceptual understanding... the key to lifelong understanding. preK-Ph.D.
It's important for ALL.
Wow! Book plus LOTS of resources.
Thank you Leah! Just ordered the book! Great information
Thank you for helping me grow my knowledge outside of elementary!
Thank you, Leah!
Thank you Leah!
I need to get the k-5 one. Thank you!
Video is great. It is always powerful to see students and teachers in action.
Definitely want the K-5 book😊Great resource
Thank you, Leah! I love the K-5 book and it looks like the high school book is just as amazing!
I think I need to get the K-5 book. Thanks, Leah!
This like a great book for what I do.
I always love seeing real world examples!!
I would like to look at these books more,
I loved seeing how the book uses video to give real-world examples
Everything was great. I liked your favorite quote
Thank you, Leah! I like how I can see that elementary through high school really look the same in so many ways.
I wanted to do the problem but I wanted to listen to the students discussion. Thank you Leah!
