Facebook will always be about 20 seconds behind the Zoom.
It lays the foundation for calculating area
How to build upon a known fact to reason about another problem.
real world connection for multiplication
That's the piece I think we are missing once they get in the older grades. Many students need to see this!
The visual models are powerful conceptual images of the mathematics. You can see the interconnectedness of the factor pairs.
I like the conceptual relationship.
I heard the cat but I thought it was a kid crying. 😂
The KCM animals all seem to want in on the sessions!
Quantity lines are one of my favorite things!
Or with base ten blocks
Love the reminder of using the equal sign correctly!
I love bundles and sticks (popscicle sticks) along with all of that.
Important to acknowledge these modes when children are working with math concepts. Imagine a world when they have a steady mode of both.
We need lots more time to devote to inquiry!
first grade CONSTANTLY
It's such a big idea... and we can't shortchange it.
this is such an important concept in late first moving into second
97,98, 99, 1000
My favorite activities involve +1,-1, +10,-10
Love using TERTRIS strips from hundreds charts
I made a "jigsaw puzzle" with a 100s chart
Love using these "puzzles" later in the year with my first graders
They are great to use into 2nd as well! Reinforcing...
There is a great 1st grade FAL that uses pieces of the 100 chart.
Great information today, I love having this time to dig into these wonderful materials that we have!
