Abby Berthold, Owensboro High School in Owensboro, KY
Susan Wickline Great Crossing high school Georgetown, KY
Welcome everyone! So glad you are here!
love this connection with covid-19 AND using an article to ground the math!
I love this real world math connection!!
From the center! Wow!
I love this!
What did we wonder, what do we notice?! We need to show this to the world!
I wish my math teachers had done demos like this or showed clips and used articles. Social Studies background - instructional coach here.
A Lot of kids are calculator dependent so what to do in that matter
I want a spreadsheet. I want Desmos.
some might ask how many days are in the month
James is right
Yeah! I did it! Great directions!
Is this basically the same as using the same type of functions on a TI?
Abby, Yes... this technology is the same.
What do each of you Notice and Wonder? Respond in the chat:)
Same as TI but the problem is access to technology
I think we could really use a lot of the analysis components here as well to eliminate that access or familiarity to the technology
will we get the powerpoint at the end/
Desmos has an app for the phone. This is a great feature.
Can desmos activities be used if its not “live”? Can kids complete these at their own pace?
I agree Katie. Some of this could be used to create choice boards and they have to select a certain number of tasks. As a student Task 2 would have been good for me.
Yes, students can do Desmos activities at their own pace.
Thank you, Leah for making the math relevant and personal!!
The context you set for the math was awesome!!
Thanks Jenn love you!
very nicely done
thanks all of you guys for coming out!
